Thank you so much for all the informative tutorials! I have learned more here than I did y watching all those Viking tutorials. I owe you so much. Not as frustrated as I was yesterday.
Hi Cathy, 4D QuiltDesign Creator is not in 4D Pro. It is a stand along program. It is not included in 5D Pro either. There are functions of 4D QuiltDesign Creator in 4D/5D Pro but there are 4D QDC features not included in Pro.
Linn is 4D quilt design software in the 4D professional software? I am thinking of buying the Qbot and am just gathering facts. I actually own 4D profession and 5D professional software.
Hi Mary, I haven’t put my videos on CD yet. It is some thing I want to do. I just haven’t had the time complete that project. I’ll let you know if it happens.
I enjoy all of your video tutorials on 4D Embroidery.
They have all been so very hslpful.
Do you plan on putting these tutorials on a DVD.
I surely would buy one if it was available.
Thank you
Hi Cathy,
The inclusion of the Pfaff stitches in 5D is a little bit different. Launch 5D Configure. Click on Machine Manager. Click on Add. Select Pfaff from the Brand pull down and creative vision from machine. Click OK. Next close 5D Embroidery if it is open. You want to be sure you open it after you add the machine so the files are refreshed. Now open 5D Embroidery, click on the Motif tab and click on the Group pull down. You should now be able to see the Pfaff stitch groups.
I hope this helps. LIN
Hi Lin,
I was in your class a few weeks ago and you showed us how
to add pfaff fonts to our software. I just upgraded to
5D and I am not seeing the new letters. I tried to do
it but am not having any luck. Will you tell me again.
Thanks.

Hi Diana, I stitch the snowflakes on felt. You could stitch them on an organza or other appropriate material. The designs are not free standing. LIN
How did you stitch out your beautiful name snowflake? I would like to try it but I’m afraid it will come apart on washaway stabilizer. Thanks
Hi Cristina,
I’m assuming your creating motifs in Fabric Decorator. To delete motifs click on Motif (upper right hand area) and select Manage MyMotifs. The MyMotif panel will pop up and you can then easily delete those you do not want. HTH. LIN
Hi Lin,
first of all many many thank you for you tutorials.
When I got my 4D I immediately started to study manuals but my version (Italian) shows, I think, 50% of the capability of the software and doesn’t even mention any of the tricks you show.
My question now is: how can I delete “my motifs” stitches? Because in my exercises I tried to make new stitches but first attempt aren’t very good.
Thank you very much for now,
Cristina
Hi Diane, Thanks for stopping by my web site. Look around and view a few of the videos. Many of them are on software. I hope you’ll be in another class soon. LIN
I just joined your email list (I was the one in WV in your class at Luke’s today). Diane in WV
Hi Nancy, I’m so glad your working through the lesson again. That is an excellent way to solidify your knowledge.
For step 19 just skip through it. I didn’t add anything to the lesson. If you do not have a grid at step 21 it is because you turned it off as some point. Step 26 tells you to turn it off by clicking on the grid icon. Have fun!
I am finally working on the April 2010 In-The-Hoop Zipper Bag Class. Just got with Connie and received the notes from the class. My computer was not up to all the updates and I think it’s working now. The number Step 19 in the directions was void and I remember you told us what to write iti in. (What was it?) Step 21 doesn’t show me the gris background when I get there. Thanks Nancy Hazzard
Hi Mary,
Yes, it been a while since I’ve posted to my blog. Life and other responsibilities have taken priority. I do hope to post a few things before long. I really need to be attentive to my viewers. Thanks for asking. LIN
Lin,
I have not recieved any e-mails from your site since April. Have they been discontinued?? I love your tutorials!!
I’m so glad you’ll be there. As always a day of sewing is a good day.
Yes, cutting your fabric ahead of time is fine. When you cut the body of the bag cut it large. That way you will have a little wiggle room when you cut it to size. The embroidery will take the fabric up a bit (not much). Having a bit extra will give a little leeway.
The other item to note when cutting is the upper purse band and upper purse band lining. Instead of cutting 2 – 3.5″ x 32″ (The two pieces are sewn together.) I prefer to cut 1 – 6.5″x 32″. My though is just start with them together! (It’s a preference thing. Both ways work.)
Let me know if you need anything else. See you Saturday!
Hi Lin,
I’m looking forward to your class Saturday at Luke’s and I wanted to know if it’s okay if I go ahead and cut my fabric out and have it ready? Thanks, Debbie Weiler
Hi Dona,
I think this may help some. Review the video on internal and external – http://linsews.com/2008/03/4d-stitch-editor-polygon-border-applique/
Lin,
Thank you for repling to my post. I have the 4d suite. I have tried going into the stitch editor but I guess I didn’t understand the differrence between external and internal. I will try again. I am trying to make a patch and want the inside to be a fill then embroider lettering on top. I will let you know if I can get it to work for me. Thank you again for your responce and your site with all this help!
Thank you Lin for the quick response on resizing. It was just the help I needed. I found your web site by searching google for lessons on 4 D Extra as I was having a hard time figuring out how to make the program work. Thanks again and please keep up the informative lessons.
Kay
Hi Kay,
Take a look at the Resize Scale lesson posted in Oct of 08. Let me know if you still have questions after your review. http://linsews.com/2008/10/4d-embroidery-resize-and-scale/
Hi Lin
I am a new member and find your lessons on 4D software very helpful. I have learned sooooooooo much since joing your site and I have told many about you. My question is, is there a way to remove stitches if I wish to down size a design more than 20%? I have 4D extra.
Thanks in advance.
Kay
Hi Dona,
Yes you can create shapes with fills. Which software do you have? The 4D Pro can give you the files and in Stitch Editor you can do the shapes using internal or external applique. I hope that helps. LIN
Hi Lin,
I love your site. I have been searching for about a year looking for classes offered on the internet for the 4D software. I just found your site and have already learned alot more from you than I have from the books that came with the program. I do have a question. Is there a way to create shapes with satin border and a fill in side? I see how to create border shapes but would like to have the inside a fill. Thank you so VERY VERY much for share all you have with everyone.
Dona
You make owning this software a lot of fun. Thanks for all your hard work.
Janet
Hi LizE, Thank you. I appreciate you taking the time to let me know you value the lessons. I love to teach & sew. LIN
Hi Lin,
I want to thank you so much for your very informative and easy to follow tutorials. I have learned more from you than the dealer I bought my software from! My passion is sewing and thanks hardly seems adequate but there it is – thank you for sharing your knowledge. I for one am very appreciative. I agree with Lynne, this is a great blog!
Thanks again,
LizE
Hi Lynne,
Intertwining letters is something I’ll need to think about. I’ll put it at the back of my mind to work on. Thanks for the idea. LIN
Hi Lin,
I really enjoy your Blog. It seems to have something for everyone. A while back you asked for suggestions on tutorials. I’m not sure how others with 4D feel about it, but I would love to know if intertwigning letters is possible, and if so, can you show us how.
Thanks so much for this great blog.
Lynne
