I’ll be posting later in the week from the Husqvarna Viking International Convention. Convention is June 3rd through the 6th. I’ll be checking out the Viking Truck on the 3rd and teaching the other three days. I plan to post all the Convention news I can find. It will be a fun week! Let me know if you have questions. LIN

My vacation week is coming to an end. I’ve enjoyed some very relaxing time with my DH. We took a trip to Panama City Beach for a few days and even took in a fabric shop. We stopped in at Quilting on the Bay, the local Husqvarna Viking dealer. I met Diane McKee the owner and Sue Elliott the manager. They have a beautiful shop with a wonderful selection of fabric, machines and sewing supplies. I selected a nice batik to add to my collection.
I chatted with Diane about the shop and with Sue about software and teaching. Stay tuned to their schedule and mine. There may be some plans in the works.
Also in the neighborhood is Uncle Ernie’s Bayfront Grill & Brew House, a great place to eat. It’s right on the bay with wonderful patio seating. My DH had the ‘to die for’ crab cakes. We’ll be back.
At home I’m working on a number of things. But the one thing I keep telling myself is – be focused. I have a very limited number of days until I leave for the Husqvarna Viking Convention. I still have quite a bit to get done. The list needs to be created and updated daily. I can’t start any new projects and I need a plan.
The 4D Embroidery Skill Builder lesson is complete and ready to go. Be sure to have your dealer sign up for my class. They will be able to bring the lesson back to their shop and teach it. It contains quite a lot of features and functions and will definitely build your confidence in the software while creating a wonderful design.
I need to have my samples ready, my wardrobe planned and my packing strategy complete. I’ll update you next week.

Keeping up with technology requires continual effort. The environment continues to change and demands new skills. Saturday I was off to WorkPress Columbus. It was an unconference on WordPress, the many pluggins available and the application of the tools. It was a great one day conference.
And what does this have to do with sewing and the delivery of lessons. Oh, quite a lot. The underlying technology for my web site is WordPress. The plugins enhance the site with valuable features.
I had the opportunity to meet Lorelle VanFossen of Lorelle on WordPress. She is a wonderful woman full of energy and a wealth of information.

I also met Mark Ghosh of Weblog Tools Collection and Scott Reilly of coffee2code. They too had more information and make me feel that I have so much to learn.
So this week I’ve been spending my time aquiring knowledge and developing my skills. My mind is buzzing with how I will put this new knowledge to work at LinSews.com. Stay tuned.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you.
I’ve had a wonderful day. It started out with sleeping in. I got up and took my time this morning. My DH cooked brunch and we talked about our plans for the day. Brunch was a breakfast casserole. It was very good. He’s a wonderful cook.
Then after finishing up with a few chores and a phone call from my son we were off to a park for a hike.
On the way to the park we met up with a turtle in the road. We stopped and DH moved him on his way.

We had a 4 mile hike planned for the day. DH had his GPS so we were all set. Into the woods we went.
The woods are beautiful this time of the year.
The back lighting on this leaf was astounding. There was such a wonderful pattern in this leaf I needed to take the picture for inspiration.

We saw May Apples and Solomons Seal and little white and pink flowers. But my favorite was Jack in the Pulpit.

I was amazed at how many we saw. The woods were filled with them. I’ll have to go back after they have turned to see their red splendor.
Next we stopped off for ice cream and then into Waynesville to visit the Fabric Depot. What fun I had. I picked out a number of remnants to add to my collection. They sell them for 2.99 a yard and are very generous in measuring. I picked out 11 remnants. The smallest on was about 15″ long. The biggest was about 7/8 of a yard and a double width. The 11th piece is the blue background.

On the way home we stopped at the local vineyard for a glass of wine. We sat outside and enjoyed each others company and the beautiful day. Next was a quick stop at the grocery store and then on home. DH cooked a nice dinner.
There was still plenty of daylight so we took a nice walk in the neighborhood and I picked a few 4 leaf clovers. I’m collecting them for another project.

And now to take it easy. I hope your Mother’s Day was as relaxing and enjoyable as mine.
