Book Bags/Gifts

Well it seems I’ve been a bit distracted with other items and have not posted for a few weeks.  If there were only more days in the week or more hours in the days.

I wanted to share one of the projects I’ve been working on.

A few weeks  ago Smart Needle  http://www.smartneedle.com/ had their design on sale.  I had been controlling myself. I had refrained from purchasing designs that I wanted without having a specific project planned.  I have way too many designs that I have never stitched.   Well, the Smart Needle sale was just too much.  They have the cutest designs for kids. So I purchased the Bugs Jar http://www.smartneedle.com/BUGYAX7_SNA.html.  I didn’t have a project in mind at least not at that moment.

Thanksgiving was approaching and my DH and I were headed to Indy to spend the day with his brother and sister in law.  I was hoping we’d see the kids and the great nieces and nephews. We don’t have plans to see them for Christmans so I thought I’d take gifts for the little ones.  I always like to make bags and the bugs would be just the thing to put on them.  A book bag would be good as I always like to encourage reading.

Here is a picture of the bags.

Smart Needle Book Bag

The one bag in the middle has a Viking design.  It is on the Diamond and has the dog ears and tails done separately.  It gives the doggy dimension.

The bag is designed to either be carried by the loop as it is shown or the loop can be pulled to the back side and becomes shoulder straps to wear like a backpack.

I’ve filled them with Golden Books.  Hopefully the little ones will like them.  I’m told they should be a big hit. I’ll have to wait to find out.  I didn’t get to see the kids on Thanksgiving. I’ll just need to make plans to visit at Christmas.

I hope you are finding some time for sewing a few gifts this season.  I know it always helps me get in the spirit of the season.

Sew Soon.
