Happy New Year 2010

Another year has disappeared and 2010 is now here.  My how the days fly.  As I looked back over 2009 I’m pretty happy with all of the things accomplished.  The highlights for me were teaching at the Husqvarna Viking Convention and releasing my Sewing Machine pattern to all of you (it’s now available through Viking).

I also posted nearly 40 times, delivering information specific to the 4D software and items on sewing and creating.  As I looked through the web site I found my self saying ‘oh, I forgot I had done that’.  It’s funny, but there are times when I review my tutorials to refresh my memory on a feature or technique.

I’ve had a number of classes this year as well.  I taught at Luke’s, Bueter’s, Mason Gallery and of course at Convention. I always enjoy class room teaching.  The classes connect me to all of you, provide focus for honing my skills and provide inspiration.

I also met many of you through sewing events.  I always enjoy getting caught up with friends at the Spring and Fall Bueter’s sewing retreat. The Sewing Adventure at Luke’s was packed with two full days of sewing tips, techniques, things to buy and again catching up with sewing friends. The Original Creative Festival and the Quilting, Stitching and Craft Expo were filled with classes and friends as well.

I had the opportunity to meet with Sue Hausmann and interview her.  Sue is such a delight, down to earth and generous.  If you missed the post, here’s a link: http://linsews.com/?s=hausmann.

Also this year I’ve joined the Warren County Quilt Guild.  I will become an official quilter and will likely find a few more events to attend.

Wow, I hadn’t realized I had participated in so many sewing specific things this year.  I know there are some of you that I saw at nearly all of the events mentioned.  Did you go to others?

So 2010, hmm.  I have the usual resolutions – exercise, lose weight, eat better . . . but how about my sewing?

I have several things that are in the works that need good focus.  My plan to deliver a 4D tutorial is still only in pieces. I have the 4D ExpressMonogram Wizard and 4D QuiltDesign Creator that I plan to teach.

I  plan to blog and provide information to the LinSews audience – all of you. I plan to continue to teach and hope to expand my teaching community. I plan to complete projects that are still unfinished, start and complete projects and start projects that will substantially age before completion but perhaps a few less.

Wishing all of you a happy, healthy 2010, more finished projects than started and many hours of satisfying sewing.

LIN

Below is a picture of I quilt I put together.  I’m creating quilting designs in 4D QuiltDesign Creator. I’ll be stitching them soon. The finishes squares are 6″ x 6″, a perfect size to present quilting designs.

  • Hi Biserka, I’ve reloaded the photo and it seems to be available now in IE. Thanks for letting me know there still was an issue. LIN

  • Hi Biserka, The pattern is available through your dealer. The part number is 140 00 33-85 Sewing Machine Cover. If your Viking dealer is not convenient I still have it available on my web site. See the Shopping tab on my web site. LIN

  • Viking Convention and releasing my Sewing Machine pattern to all of you (it’s now available through Viking).

    Lin:
Once in Viking how do I get the pattern?…I am confused. could you explain to me more about this pattern of yours?
    Thank you again.
    Biserka.

  • Frustrated as I can’t see your quilt…..is there another way for me to admire your quilt?
    Thank you.
    Biserka.

  • A rainbow of God’s Blessings to you and yours this 2010 and forward on.
The photo of the quilt you made, did not show, but I know that it must be beautiful.

  • Hi Lin,

A happy and prosperous new year to you.
Thank you so much for your lessons, they are so clear and informative.
Do you sell any books or DVD’s of your lessons, as I would gladly pay for them, they have helped me enormously.

    Regards, Jeanette

  • Hi Alexandra, The one offered through Viking has a few updates but is the same pattern. Having it available through Viking makes it available to those not familiar with my site and perhaps more convenient. To get the pattern through Viking visit your local dealer and ask for item 140 00 33-85 Sewing Machine Cover. If your Viking dealer is not convenient I still have it available on my web site. See the shopping tab on my web site. LIN

  • Hi Anita, IE was having difficulties interpreting the photo yesterday. It is appearing today as expected. Let me know if your still having difficulty. LIN

  • Happy New Year to you Lin and thanks so much for the
last instruction you gave for a last minit design on a tea towel. I did it in green on red and it looked so Christmassy!
    Thanks from Georgina

  • Thank you, Lin–Here’s wishing you a happy, healthy New Year also. About your Sewing Machine pattern–does this mean that it’s no longer available from your site? If we still want it, do we have to go to the Husqvarna website? If so, where exactly? I’ve looked forward to buying a pattern from you.

  • wish you a Happy New Year and sucess also

  • I was unable to open the picture of your quilt. I’d love to see it.

  • Happy New Year Lin,

I have the same “good resolutions” for this year as you … and I would like to thank you for your lessons … I save them preciously so that I can come back to them as often as necessary.

I’m learning degitizing (4D PRO) in France because I do admit that my practice of 3D PRO and then 4D PRO was so limited that it was a shame regarding the investment. Probably because of the English language, but also because software engineers are no basic embroiderers when they write the “manuals” …. I know this pb because my DH is one of them !!!

I’m sewing on a SE after having sewn on a Quilt Designer II … I love my machine. I cannot afford the new Diamond and hope SE will take me another decade …

My best wishes for this new year ! I’m eagerly await your next video !

    My kindest embroidery regards.

    Martine
