Cutwork Tablecloth

I’ve been working on a group of cut work designs that are in the new 5D software.  The picture of the design is on the cover of the 5D Pro package.  I think it is just beautiful.  I’ve stitched out the design with a tone on tone in teal.  The table cloth will be a wonderful sample and addition to my dinner table linens.

While working through the stitching I found I was watching the design because it wasn’t stopping to allow for the fabric trimming.  I checked the design in the software and sure enough the stop commands were there.  I was puzzled as to why my Diamond was not stopping to allow for the trimming of the fabric.  Could there be some thing wrong with the design. It surely was not an issue with my Diamond (my Diamond has performed flawlessly from day one.) After watching the second design to ensure I could trim the fabric, I thought there must be a setting that isn’t right. I went into Machine Settings. The Selective Thread Cutter option was turned off.  I set it on and backed up several stitches to see if the setting change would correct the issue.  Sure enough the last few stitches finished up and there was a pause.  I trimmed the fabric and continued the design.  Now I had no excuse for watching the stitching.

I moved over to my trusty SE and continued work on a quilt while the Diamond purred away on the tablecloth.

Husqvarna Viking Convention 2010

Hello!

I’m back from the Husqvarna Viking 2010 Convention.  I was able to spend time with the new Ruby and the new 5D software.

The Ruby is a great addition to the Husqvarna Viking line up.   It has the larger embroidery area and comes with the 360 x 200 and 120 x 120 hoops. It has Design Positioning, a large screen, hundreds of stitches and many other capabilities.  It also comes with a set of design exclusive to the Ruby.

The new 5D software will be a lot of fun.  The Encore feature can be done with shapes. Design Creator has great updates.  The vector platform and clear visual of created designs is awesome.  The Richelieu cut work creation is a big WOW and is complimented with free standing cross hatch.  I have projects in mind.

The new Background Wizard is very cool.  No need to flip back and forth between Extra and Vision.  All of the work is done on screen with the background in 5D.

It was great to catch up with friends from across the country and meet a new ones.  You’ll be seeing more from Convention over the next few weeks.  Here are a few photos of software and the Gallery Challenge. Click here’s to view.
